We booked for the degustation which a year ago was exactly that - 12 courses served with accompanying wine. Last night, it was a banquet. Help yourself to the food, and unfortunately some platters were finished and no one replenished them. The food was cold. We felt sorry for the wait staff who was run off their feet. Not ever returning.
A Friend and I were feeling peckish and wanted to have some good dessert but didnt feel like going to our usual dessert bars, so he mentioned this place because he "had the best dessert" here once and not similar to the usual crepes, fondants, cakes, etc... So I said, ok why not.. Initially when I got to the front I was like are you sure this is right it looks like a Takeaway place, but found that it was as well as a restaurant at the back. Anyway, we decided to share a serve of butter chicken and a few peices of naan bread. When it came out, i was a little disappointed with the serving size (we got abt 5pieces of chicken) especially for the price of it.... but as soon as i tasted the flavor it was really good. Probably one of the best butter chickens I've had before. It would be better though if the serving was a little bigger though. ...read more
We had such a hard time choosing off the menu - everything looked good. Even though this is at the pricy end of Indian the serves are generous. Love the "indian with a difference" dishes like beef and beetroot vindaloo. The duck and goat were also good. Good service. Decent wine list.
We've had a few great curries and many good curries here, both as dine in and takeaway customers. Across the road from the Chelsea cinema, the restaurant can be quite loud when it's busy, but its high patronage is a testament to its merits in the kitchen. They also have a lot of take home spices for sale, and their takeaway service is speedy. If you want to make sure your curry has plenty of zing, you'd better ask though- it's the Eastern suburbs, after all!
