Doonies Diner

I think these guys have made a great fish and chip shop,
they do their best, they are friendly and generous. highly recommend

I've lived in Gisborne for 20years was left with no option but to visit Doonies Dinner Gisborne tonight, havent been there for over 18mths. I ordered a steak sandwich on a toasted hamburger bun with pineapple, cheese, bacon & no onion, lettuce tomato & beetroot which are standard and a serve of chips. The bun was at least 3 days old, the steak was chared and well and truly over cooked, if it had legs it couldve walked away as stiff as an ironing board, there was no pineapple, no bacon maybe a tablespoon of lettuce a small piece of tomatoe and an equally smaller piece of beetroot. Eating my childrens weetbix box wouldve been more tasteful and palletable. The chips were over cooked, my sons hamburger was as disgusting as my food and about the only thing ok were my daughters steamed dim sims. I will NEVER be visiting Doonies ever again and neither will my 3 children and all their teen friends.

Haven't entered Doonies since last years Good Friday, but i must say the best food I've had, also the best Hamburger I've had all my life thanks to the Gentlemen. But the service needs improving it was abit slow.

Service is wonderful. The girl that serves Friday nights always has a beautiful smile on her face like she brightens up the room! best food in gisborne, and very nice people! way better than the previous owners!

New owners are fantastic. The bloke that is always working (Im assuming is the owner) is great and has been very generous. Food is really good. Definitely my favourite fish n chip shop in gisborne again...
