Doughboy Donuts

Tried this place after they opened their store in the CBD. They originally have one just outside vic market. Some of their flavours are unique and different to other gourmet donut places. Would come back if I'm around the area. Perfect with a cup of a coffee.

Had a chocolate doughnut with crumbled brownies and nuts on top and an old fashioned with salted caramel. Both tasted nice but the frosting flavors were not very strong. The chocolate one basically just tasted like chocolate. The real star of the show was the texture of the old fashioned -- a little bit crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. The salted caramel glaze wasn't super pronounced but was a nice addition.

THE BEST DONUTS IVE EVER HAD!

I've always wanted to try a doughnut from doughboys and I finally got the chance! There was a number of selections and it was so hard to decide. Finally with some suggestions from the counter staff and consulting Urban Spoon I ended up picking the apple crumble. It did not disappoint. The flavour was strong and the bread was very juicy. I have since come back and also tried the lime one, such a unique and sophisticated flavour. Would recommend anybody try this.

After a few failed attempts of visiting Doughboy Donuts in the past, I finally got the chance to arrive at this store during my last visit to Melbourne. In my imagination, the store would have to be this modern yet intimate, lifestyle-oriented space that sells atmosphere in addition to their beautiful donuts.

So I was quite surprised to see the very exact opposite. The place was at the upstairs level of a heritage-looking building next to a pub-style lunch restaurant in this Queen Victoria Market area.
