I couldn't be happier. 1 egg collection, 4 embryos. So far, 3 embryos implanted in time resulting in 2 beautiful healthy kids with 1 embryo still ón ice'.
Due to my age and circumstances, before egg collection Dr Bowman estimated that I'd get about 4 high grade embryos. He was exactly right! We got 4 high grade 5-day blasts.
Two years on after and I still have nightmares about my experience going through IVF. It was so painful that it has almost put me off ever wanting to go through IVF ever again. Even though I had a history of chronic pain due to Endometriosis and had been assured before the procedures that the pain would be managed but nothing was done. No anaesthesiologist, no script to get pain med's after the procedure. During the procedure the doctor pushed hard into my abdomen right where the Endo was growing and it hurt really badly. When I complained about the pain he told me to put up with it. I was in tears by the end of the procedure. He could'nt have cares less. His nurses were also no help recommending I take Panadol which is like telling someone with cancer to take a tic-tac. I ended up in so much pain that I couldn't walk properly for the next three days. There was zero follow up. You are treated like a number only and with no empathy at all.
I'm sorry you had this experience. It was certainly not my nor Genea's intention to cause you such pain and distress. We always aim to give appropriate pain relief during and after any IVF procedures. Women can have local or general anesthesia as they wish for their egg collection.

In the meeting I was told that I could have anesthesia for collection and implanting with pain killers. However there was no pain script given to me after the egg collection and no anesthesia or pain killers for the implanting which was when I couldn't walk properly for the next three days. Clearly the requests from the original meeting were not honoured.
Considering IVF for us was a huge step and beside the financial site of things there are many questions about treatment and alternatives that you can not research online or in books. We have been recommended to Dr Mark Bowman and after our first consultation at Genea we had all our answers. He even advised us to wait with the IVF treatment and showed us an alternative with a more natural way to conceive. We will follow this for 2 month and will still have the options to do the IVF later.
