This place has been on my list of brunch places to visit. The cafe looks nice and we were greeted with warm welcome. Staff was very friendly and took our coffee orders when we sat down. Coffee was good. We ordered the breakfast of champignons with a side of bacon. The eggs were nicely poached and the mushrooms were nice, though the cheese was a little overpowering. Also finished up with a Cronut to share which was average.
I have been going to this place for brunch for many years and it seldom disappoints. However when I recently went there I noticed that the business has changed hands. Their coffee were nice and tasty but their brunch menus were average. I ordered their salmon on a croissant and I did not think much of it. It is reasonably priced for average food. Staff are nice and friendly
I've always enjoyed my visits to Spotswood. It was the perfect pitstop before visiting Scienceworks. It's rate in the Good Food Guide for good reason - It has great service, and good sense of humour from the waiter when my boyfriend said that we wouldn't pay if the food and coffee weren't good. The water 'agreed' to the deal stating that he was very confident that we'd be impressed. He was right! I had the House of Wales which comprised of house smoked salmon and it was simply delicious! The salmon was fresh and not packet salmon as it was a really thick slice. The coffee was smooth and not too frother. They even served my neice a babycino.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area!
I really like it here cause it's really cute and cosy. You can tell the owner(s) take a lot of pride in their presentation, not only for the store, but presentation on the food too. Everything is so nicely presented - sometimes you get the feeling of not knowing where to start cause you don't want to ruin it.
I was here for lunch with a small group so we got to try and share a few different dishes. We had the asparagus & goats cheese tart, the smoked salmon salad, lamb sandwich and chicken sandwich. My favourite was the chicken sandwich, which was a smoked chicken with walnuts. I particularly enjoyed the texture from the walnuts which worked really well in the sandwich.
I want to come back and try the pork dishes, there's one called 'Off with his head' and in the description is a pig's head, I'm not sure if they really serve a pig's head but curious to try.
Strongly recommended
Having read raving reviews about this cafe, I ventured out to try their breakfast. Whilst the service and the coffee at this cafe were both impeccable, I found the serving portion a little bit too small for the price. I ordered their 'Kings Woodstock' (scrambled eggs with tomato chutney and pork, fennel, and chilli sausage), and for the price of $16.50, the serving was a bit too small. I must say, I was rather disappointed...
