Eastlands Shopping Centre

Eastlands is the largest Shopping Centre in Tasmania in air-conditioned comfort with over 1,445 car parking spaces. The Centre has two levels, which are fully enclosed and is located in the suburb of Rosny Park situated on the Eastern Shore of Hobart, only an 8-minute drive from the Hobart CBD.

Eastlands Shopping Centre is situated on Bligh Street in the Hobart suburb of Rosny Park, 4 kilometres to the east of the Hobart CBD. The Centre and the commercial facilities in Rosny Park constitute the main commercial area on the eastern side of the Derwent River. The commercial area is well serviced by public transport.

Eastlands opened in 1965 and was expanded and developed in 1971 and 1978. In August 1989, the Centre also underwent a small internal expansion, increasing its size from 26,700m2 to 27,808m2. In 1991, retail space was reconfigured to rationalise pedestrian patterns between levels. The $15 million major expansion of the Coles and Woolworths Supermarkets and a total refurbishment of the malls was completed in November 1999 and in 2000 the Village Cinemas and Entertainment Complex was added.

Building works in 2002 have seen the addition of Tasmania's first Big W store and a re-development of the Bligh Street Car Park and inter-section. Additional works in 2006 saw the reconfiguration of the existing lower level mall to incorporate a brand new grand entrance, new mall and an additional 17 specialty stores.
