The food here is tremendous. For someone who has spent a fair amount of time in Japan I find the food incredibly authentic, thanks in no small part to the highly trained Japanese chef. The okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) is second to none. Several delicious styles of gyoza, tasty karaage (Japanese fried chicken). While because of it's location hundreds of kilometres from the coast the sushi may not always be fresh it is only necessary to ask the host.
Having eaten here numerous times in my travels to Jindabyne and worked my way through most of the menu including, on several occasions, the sushi I have found everything to be exceptional. Accompanied with a beer and Sake selection which would be enviable in Japan as well as a knowledgeable and friendly host you will be hard pressed to find better in major cities let alone a small rural town.
Faily good except for the sashimi. Do NOT order the sashimi. Sahimi is meant to be very fresh. Ours was frozen. Not even fully thawed. Commented to owner, who said that was common in Japan. NOT TRUE!
The above person knows nothing about sashimi, because ALL sashimi is frozen. It has to be to destroy the bacteria that can accumulate in raw flesh. So the comment that sashimi is never frozen is completely incorrect.
Freezing is often used to kill parasites. According to European Union regulations,[4] freezing fish at â??20°C (â??4°F) for 24 hours kills parasites. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends freezing at â??35°C (â??31°F) for 15 hours, or at â??20°C (â??4°F) for 7 days.
Freezing food does not kill pathogens. It does slow the growth of pathogens.
