Pest control chemicals are a group of chemicals used to control, repel or kill pests and prevent or control animal diseases. They include chemicals often referred to as pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, weedicides, rodenticides, biocides and repellents.
Pest control chemicals are widely used in primary production, for commercial purposes and in domestic situations.
Yes they have been tested and certified, but common sense should tell us that if a chemical is strong enought to kill insects and rodents, it is going to have some effect on us and the environment. If you want an example of how strong pesticides and similar products are, the first pesticde developed was in WW2 - one drop on human skin killed the person in a few seconds. Since then they have of course been developed and made 'safe', but fundamentally you are using a very toxic substance - it has to be to work!
