If you need a few little things from the hardware store and have been putting off going because you don't want to give-up your weekend, why not drop in to Edgecliff Hardware.
They have most little things you'll need to get stuff done around the house but unfortunately don't have larger products (as it's quite a small shop compared to the more traditional Hardware stores).
The staff are really friendly and happy to help out. Not to mention, very knowledgeable in all products and their application.
I often pick something up on my way home from Edgecliff Train station. I recommend that you do the same. It's the quickest way to stop the nagging...and doesn't require a huge amount of effort!
I cant recommend it enough!
