Love, love, loved lunch here. Located on the corner of Crown and Stanley street, the stylish, minimalist interior sets the tone for the food at Edition Coffee Roasters. The menu is unique with surprising combinations and a quirky take on more familiar dishes, such as the ramen roll. Really? Yes. The cured kingfish with charcoal bread, parsley sour cream, pickles and almonds was inventive, light and summery.
As the name might suggest, this place serves good coffee, but they are famous for so much more. Armed with a weapon of fusion between Nordic and Japanese elements, they come up with incredible dishes.
One in particular is a black sesame hotcakes named “Yakuza in Black”. It is a stack of two black pancakes with yellow sauce — very beautifully presented and equally delicious with crispy outer texture and softer insides and the sauce doing all the lifting up to give that bit of a ...read more
Uber-cool cafe located in the heart of Darlinghurst created around the fairly unique concept of Japanese meets Scandinavian cuisine.
The interior is minimal - think white walls and pine furniture - the serving staff are trendy-as-can be - think beards and man-buns - and, most importantly, the food is superb.
On recommendation I ordered the Yakuza in Black which is black sesame hotcakes surrounded by a mango ganache topped with mascarpone and some ...read more
I've been to this place a couple of times now and ra h and every time, it is a amazing. Clean and minimalist styling and furniture, open to the street, it is very inviting. The menu has just undergone a change but has kept three staples there. The first time I went, I had the amazing flowerpot filled with yoghurt, crumbed cookie and fruit - beautiful, fresh and creamy. With the change to summer, they've updated their menu with some lighter options. The owner and chef took time to explain the options carefully to us and we really appreciated his passion for cooking and time to elaborate on our choices. I went for the beautifully prepared sashimi, nuts and picked vegetables, tangy, fresh and a combination of flavours that worked so well together. The other half got the noodles and vegetable dish - is inspired but the noodles at yum cha, topped with carrot, corn, edamame and more. Again, excellent combinations. The Japanese influence made for a clean and clever ...read more
Stopped by to try their Yakuza's Dream - Which is match hot cakes with passionfruit, preserved plum and native honey ganache! $19!!!
Wow so tasty the hot cakes had a more dense consistency but lots of flavour throughout the dish.
We also ordered some tea but it only came out 1/4 full in the cup. Not a great thing when you pay $6.50 for it! Staff were friendly.
