Stumbled across this underground bar on Elizabeth Street. Cosy and popular place on a Friday night. Good place for a drink with a couple of friends or a small group. Seats gets filled up pretty quickly. Good sangria jugs to share.

E Fifty-five is one cool little bar. It has such a chilled a laid back atmosphere that I should try to come here a lot more often than I end up doing. Maybe it is the lack of a beer garden that keeps me away, but that probably shouldn't stop me because there are certainly a lot more to bars than beer gardens. I first came here years ago, back when you could still smoke inside pubs, bars, and clubs, and I must say that over the fifteen years E Fifty-five has been in existence, nothing much has changed (with maybe the exception of the smoke that used to fill the interior). What was really cool was that the last time I visited they even gave me a free cocktail. Okay, I'm not really much of a cocktail drinker, but I certainly wasn't going to turn that down. I really should try to come here more often.

Cheap and cheerful with a slightly student vibe, E55 has affordable food and snacks and good value drinks. Some local eccentrics were in residence the day we were there and it added to the charm. It's cosy but you can have a private conversation.
