Electra House
Well, this must be pretty new because when I came here it was absolutely packed. In fact I simply could not find a place to sit due to the number of people that had piled into the place. There are quite a number of bars in Adelaide that have appeared, but this one seems to be the most popular, which did put me off the place somewhat. Still, it is pretty cool, and there are some decent beers on tap. From what it appears is that it used to be an old pub (I remember one being here), but these days it is one of those really, really classy, and trendy places. However due to the popularity it is probably one that I would avoid for some place a little quieter.
Have came pass Electra House numerous times but no real reason to go in and take a seat, so popped it on my must check-out hit list. Finally came in the other week for afterwork drinks with some old workmates who also hadn't been here. The place is really nice inside and I like their outdoor bar and seating area. The drinks were a tad pricey but the ones we ordered and shared around to taste were really nice and well-made. I have driven pass a couple times on Saturday nights and the place is always busy so I might look at coming here again sometime with girlfriends for a night out.
The atmosphere here is worth the visit. Not sure what the building used to be, but it's got a really smart look about it, especially for those wanting a modern business look.
Drink prices are about what you'd expect and they have a huge range but nothing under $8 a glass. The shame of my visit is I'd hoped to spend a relaxing 25 minutes sipping on a nice cool white with a snack. The snack ($8 curly fries that weren't curly & were too salty) took 20 minutes to come to me. Disappointing.
