I’m not sure if I could call this a suburban pub namely because we happen to be in Geelong, though it is not quite in the centre of town. This pub was okay, but nothing really stood out where I was concerned. Sure, the staff were friendly, but the thing that really caught my attention was the outside, being one of those nice-looking old-style pubs. However, it really wasn’t all that great, and the beers on tap were pretty basic.

the prob was I sent back my meal (beautiful cut of steak def) because it was cold and not cooked how i had requestd (med-rare... thought they testd by temprature?!) Very upset wen it was returned, warm plate but still veg cold, chips cold, steak cold... sauce warm! this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. my tables meals were $91.50 plus we spent $50 on beverages. Dined at the Elephant and Castle tonight and will never be back. Upon walking into the bar section (which smelled stale and of smoke), we ordered our meals (there was three of us) 40 minutes later our meals arrived and one was wrong. Whilst my partner and child proceeded to eat theirs, I requested that I no longer wanted mine, as a well done steak would take another 20 minutes. After going up to the bar twice and speaking to two staff members a steak appeared on the table only to be pink and slightly bloody. Once again I went up to the bar and said I was over it and just wanted my money back.when deciding to leave I had to return to the bar for the fourth time to get my money.I did get an apology but really felt the person in charge should have come to my table and spoken to me. Apart from the food taking over an hour to come out on a Tuesday night, there was no vegetarian mains meals on the menu, and when ordering the calamari with no garlic, it came out with extra garlic and the waiter didn't offer to return it.
Will never eat here again.
I'm really sorry to read this review as this is my local. I hope the owners read these reviews and do something about their menu/chef. Not value for money. Bar meals are great, but not so the restaurant. Ordered a seafood salad last summer that was abysmal (no flavour at all) and haven't been back since, other than to the bar. Love the calamari, but too much mayo. They are now serving mayo on the side, which is better. Please, please improve your menu and food as the pub is terrific.
