The fact that I know so many people who would love to work in a bookshop, it is a disappointment when you go to a bookshop only to get the impression that the staff really don’t want to be there. Well, that was the case here, though it probably had more to do with the guy who was serving me just didn’t not seem all that interested in having a conversation about books. Actually, come to think of it, one of the reasons I love going to bookshops is to have those bookish conversations with people. When you encounter people that just don’t seem to be interested well, it sort of kills the experience.
Look David, have you ever worked in retail? Maybe the person had had 10000 conversations about books that day, needed to go to the toilet, was hungry, sick, tired or otherwise? Just because you went into a shop that sells items, and didn't get a conversational service (not what people are being paid for) doesn't mean you should give them a bad review. If you want to have bookish conversations with people I suggest starting a bookclub, joining an online forum etc
