ESMC has conducted an Emergency Management Review for Stirling District Hospital Incorporated. New plans in line with Australian Standards and the new 2009 Bushfire Danger Ratings have been developed from Emergency Risk Management workshops and in partnership with the Hospital's Emergency Planning Committee.

Risk is the chance of an event that will have an impact measured in terms of consequences and likelihood.

In Emergency Management it is a concept describing the likelihood of harmful consequences arising from the interaction of sources of risks, communities and the environment.

Emergency Risk Management is the systematic application of management policies, procedures and practices to identify, analyse, evaluate, treat and monitor risks to communities and organisations from extreme events. It involves the development and maintenance of arrangements to prevent or mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

Discussion exercises provide a chance to explore issues in some depth and provide verbal responses to situations. There are four common types of discussion exercise: Orientation, Agency Presentation, Hypothetical and Syndicate Exercise.
