After years of them bugging me, I finally let one of their consultants come around and give me a sales pitch last night. He rambled a lot and was hard to follow, but we are actively looking for a firm like this to help us out with a few things at the moment, and these guys seemed a lot more solid than many others out there, so we were already half on-board. However, the guy got annoyed when we wanted to make the next appointment (with their financial planner) to be 2-3 months off. He said we'd change our mind before then and it wasn't worth booking anything in if that was the case. We sought a SOA (Statement of Advice) with Equiti and found them largely unworthy of the task of 'financial planning'. While our planner was pleasent, the teams offerings were in my opinion, very limited, with only two core recommendations both tied to internal kickbacks from 3rd party insurance/super firms. Perhaps this is normal of the industry, but we were seeking a bit of proper 'advice' which was lacking. Barefoot Investors book will be of better value unless you're wanting to buy an investment property which is seemingly Equiti's main agenda.
