Esquire
Had a great experience here when I took my husband for his birthday meal. Friendly and helpful staff very knowledgeable about each item of the degustation. Loved the charcoal-flavoured dishes and enjoyed the creative elements of each dish. Lovely experience and definitely will be back to try their next change of dishes on their degustation!
I first went to Esquire after hearing about their monstrous degustation menu.
I've been fortunate enough to travel all around the globe eating in numerous Mitchelin star restaurants and Esquire still remains as one of the top degustations i've had the privilege of eating.
After completing all 9ish (was quite a time ago) courses we left completely nourished with a huge smile on our faces. It is definitely on the pricier side which may deter a lot of people - but after spending over $1000 USD on degustations that haven't compared I'd say the price reflects good bang for buck!

I came here the other night with my fianc and while it was an enjoyable experience, I left feeling hungry and a lot poorer. Even my Asian petite fianc who does not eat very much left feeling peckish. The service was commendable. The location was fantastic, with lovely views of river and story bridge. Overall, the food was good. We had the degustation menu and we enjoyed most of the dishes, but we've had better food elsewhere. Many of the dishes were just a bit over the top with clashing ingredients, as if they were trying to be different for the sake of being different. However, One of my biggest disappointments was the serving sizes. They were extremely small. Smaller than tapas. They would also come out on extremely large plates, which I know is the "thing to do" with fine dining but it just makes the meal look even smaller. My biggest disappointment was the price. This place was ridiculously expensive, especially for what you get.. A restaurant in Toowong ...read more
The Zen style decor is ultra modern and chic, black, white and greys with polished concrete floors and expansive charcoal marble counters, beautifully contrasted with American walnut tables and chairs, in a rich warm stain. On the counters are featured large vases of twisted willow, and cherry blossoms, with stacks of chopped firewood, a pile of sea urchins, and a skeleton of a large fish. Huge glass windows overlooking a formal garden, the river, and the Storey bridge further delight the eyes. Imaginative light fittings and black and white modern art paintings, complete the picture. The degustation menu which changes daily is created around the seasons and the weather, is imaginative, and decorative, with some amazing combinations of flavours, all served on extra large plates and bowls. The taster menu consisted of thirteen different recipes, all memorable, the stand- outs for us being, The Lamb Belly with aubergine and cavalo nero, and the Deckle of ...read more
