I also used to use this company regularly but in January 2010 they ripped me of - claiming there was damage to the car which I'm sure there wasn't, they sent me photos and I would've noticed the big door-wide scratches if they were there when I dropped the car of! They immediately deducted the $330 loss damage waiver from my credit card and proceeded to deduct a lost day's rental to cover the day the car was in repair, and some further admin charges. However much I argued with them it didn't help. In the end they gave me back $65 and a free day's rental voucher. They were also quite rude on the phone and didn't reply to emails and letters. I sought legal advice but because I didn't have proof that I did not cause the scratches, I was adviced that I had buckley's chance of winning any challenge. So the moral of the story is, to get Europcar to check over your vehicle and sign something before you drop it back, or better still, don't use this company at all.
charged us for a car accident we didnt have 2 weeks after the car was returned, then refunded the money 2 months later when they received notice to attend court at the small claims tribunal. we had documents that stated the car was returned in the same condition, but they still fobbed us.
