Third time I've been here and im still left unimpressed. Tried there ricotta pancakes and recently I've been to another cafe which really impressed me,this was dull and simply put together. The pancakes had no taste. The cauliflower dish would of been a lot better if it was warmed up. It tasting cold is not to my liking and the food took ages to come out. I was left disappointed
Although there is no shortage of dumplings in Ashfield, there is a distinct dearth of good coffee. However, this first visit to Excelsior Jones quelled any concerns I may have had for the locals in relation to sourcing a decent coffee fix. Great coffee, and probably the most reasonably priced in Sydney at $3.50 a cup - and yes, that's dine in. A miscommunication in our order saw us with two lattes instead of one cafe latte and one cappuccino. Although not quite sure if the mistake occurred during the order making or order taking, the waitress promptly replaced the latte with a cappuccino. Top points for customer service.
We arrived just as the kitchen was closing at 3pm on a Sunday so settled on a cinnamon cronut. Will have to return to try the food.
Great cafe - my partner and I are returning customers. Coffee is fantastic (I think they use five senses) and even though the menu is small, they do it well - my pick is the mushrooms on toast. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table too. Great service!
