A couple of years on from a generous review I wrote of Exetel, I'm still using them but not quite so enamoured with them as I was when I began.
There's not much wrong with them - their price is fair (though increasing prices with basically no notice nearly pulled me away a while ago - only because they were still the cheapest did I stay), and their billing works pretty much seamlessly. They're not stressed (yet) that I go over my quota every month and their shaping doesn't affect me.
A couple of complaints though. First of all speed really isn't up to speed. Even when I'm shaped there's no drop in speed because it was already so slow. Also when I've had to ring them their wait times have been appalling.
I'm waiting for the NBN but til then for their price I'll stay.
The internet always tells the truth, yes? Yes. And No. In this case, I think a bit of both...I've signed up with Exetel and so far have been very happy with their speed (which has been listed as 'appalling' by some on the internet) and their customer service (as above). I was actually amazed by a couple of things about them: 1) They actually tell you on their site how long you will wait if you call their call centre! & 2) They held off my connection until the date I asked - even though their own FAQ's say this isn't possible.
What I have found the internet to be true in is that there's not a lot of technical support provided by this company, so I wouldn't recommend this for a tech scared person who doesn't know any geeks.
So in the words of Albert Einstein, "Don't believe everything you read on the internet" (except this review of course!!)
Was the cheapest connection when we originally signed up. They were even helpful in setting up etc and had no problem figuring out Mac related problems. Not sure what happened but after a while there was no one who knew anything about Macs and they put up the price. Time to look elsewhere.
