Exford Hotel

Came here on a Friday night with a few mates. Downstairs is good for large groups and to watch sport. We went upstairs to see a live gig. Plenty of seats and also a bar plus a pool table. Great place to drink and chill.

This is a pretty grungy pub in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown, and despite it's location it certainly doesn't carry an Asian theme – it's just a basic pub. It's okay, though I don't come here all that much, probably because there isn't anything about it that is hugely fantastic. Mind you, like most city pubs, this place gets pretty packed at times, especially in the downstairs area. They also have a bottleshop attached to it, and a restaurant upstairs that will run the occassional show. While they do have an outdoor area, it is basically for the smokers, and would hardly fall into the definition of 'rooftop deck'. Mind you, since it adjoins an alleyway it does have a nice grungy feel about it. Still, not really my favourite of places, but okay in it's own way.

Good place for a drink, they also have a bottle shop in the pub.

Is place is located on the corner of Russel street and Chinatown. It is great for when you want to buy alcohol and don't want to pay bar/pub places. The place is often opened till late and never disappoints in the choice and availability of alcohol.
