Federal Hotel

I didn't even realise this place existed, however my friend did which is why we ended up coming here for a drink. He seemed to think that there was a basement section to this pub, but I suspect he thought that because he entered from the car park, which goes onto the first floor, whereas we entered from the main street onto the ground floor. The main bar is down stairs, and has seats out the front, but upstairs is the restaurant, a function room, and a really nice beer garden called the 'Winter Garden' (and since it was raining when we where there, it certainly felt like winter). While it is a little bit up the road from the beach, it is still close enough for beach goers to pay a visit after a swim, and certainly has more of a beach front hotel than the Semaphore Hotel down the road. However, while it was a little better, it certainly isn't a pub that I would go out of my way to visit again.

We enjoyed our lunch here. Up the red carpeted stairs to a Victorian dining room. Nice ambience- and plenty of space. Not scrunched up near lots of tables. The staff were friendly. We ordered calamari and fish and chips- I thought the quality/taste was excellent. The children enjoyed their meals too. Very generous serves and very reasonably priced. A great way to wrap up a day at Semaphore- we would go back.

Havent been in there since they have done it up - although it looks great from the outside now! I used to go for schnitzel nights, they were fantastic!

Like the front bar meals....homestyle lambsfry and bacon. Use to enjoy snitzel nights....affordable prices.
