Well, as it turned out this was one of those suburban pubs with a difference, namely because it had a theme. Okay, the theme really only extended to the pokies room, but at least there was something about this place to make it stand out from all of the other suburban pubs around. Basically the pub was set up using the theme of the Wild West, meaning that there were cowboys, shop signs, and even a totem pole scattered around the room. It certainly gave the place a bit more character than what I was used to in pubs of this type. However, I guess that is as far as this pub goes because there was no appreciable beer garden and the restaurant seemed to be rather average, and the theme did not seem to go any further beyond the pokies room. Still, it was certainly different, which is something that I appreciate.
First and last time I will ever set foot in this place. It gets half a star due to the waiting staff being friendly.
The food was edible but only because we were so hungry. The "satay" chicken tasted like sweet and sour sauce out of a jar. And the steak sandwich was tough and looked like it had been thrown together by a 2 year old.
Normally I'd say this pub was just OK, but now that I have a child I must re-evaluate most pubs for child friendliness - and this one shines in that category. It is your typical suburban pokie laden pub. Nothing special. But with kids - well the staff are child friendly, there's a playground, on Mon & Wednesdays kids eat free. Yep - a kid friendly shining beacon!
