I trained at Churchlands for more than 12 years and loved every bit of it. Through the different instructors i had i learnt valuable skills of self defence, respect, self control and achieved a high level of fitness. The best part about it was with the other gyms around Perth letting me train 6 days a week if i wanted too for a very low cost.
It isnt a "lets beat each other up" martial art. Kids class up to the age of 12/13 is great to get the young ones out and learning hand eye co-ordination, listening and attention skills, and a great way to have fun. Adults class can be more serious, with a heavy emphasis on strength/fitness, hyung (patterns) and sparring.
Regrettably i moved away from Perth and havent quite found another martial art school like this one. You wont be disappointed by the school nor the students if you come along for the free trial lesson.
The Instructors are very dedicated and enthusiastic. First Tae Kwon Do Churchlands offers classes for children and adults and allows students to progress at their own pace. Students are not rushed or pushed through belt levels which allows them time to develop a high standard of technique and an understanding of the martial art. Highly recommend for all skill & fitness levels if you are after a traditional martial art.
