Fish Face
Fish Face moved from Darlinghurst and reopened its doors in Double Bay in December of 2013. Stephen Hodges has taken on a new business partner Sally Hobbs, with Head Chef Joshua Niland fronting up the kitchen.
From the sea to the land, we pride ourselves on sourcing the freshest and most sustainable produce available. Our menu is created with an emphasis on seasonal seafood with our intent to bring the highest quality to the table.
The restaurant is somewhat similar to the old Darlinghurst site the only difference being it larger. Apart from all types of seafood we also offer sushi and sashimi some of Sydneyâ??s best, with a specific fridge from Japan to temperate the exceptional seafood. We have bar seating around the kitchen, high tables are available with tall chairs to match and also lower tables.
Fish Face is open Monday to Saturday, lunch from 12pm â?? 3pm and dinner, 6pm-10pm, Sundays 12pm-3pm and dinner 6pm-9pm, bookings available depending availability.
The restaurant is open for private functions and bookings are ...read more

Had a special family dinner in the more formal back part of the restaurant. The staff were fantastic and managed to please and engage everyone from the 11 yo to the adults. Really yummy food, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and although the portions seemed small, they are filling and it's enough. This is an expensive restaurant but well worth it - particularly for a special night out. There's an open kitchen so you get to see everything being prepared which is actually really nice in this setting as everything is handled with almost surgeon-like precision. Great restaurant.
Absolutely love Fish Face. Went here last night and had 2 amazing dishes that I am still thinking about now. The first dish was a prawn consume with noodles which was divine. My partner couldn't help himself and got his own spoon to help me eat it. Each mouthful was full of flavour but amazingly light at the same time. The second dish was was prawn ravioli with a shellfish emulsion. Now this was absolutely sublime. If I could, I would go there for lunch today and have it again.
For all things fish and seafood, Fish Face has to be one of the best places in Sydney. I
This tiny restaurant is just around the corner the Darlo bar.
Despite its size, with seating for only 30 diners, Fishface is big on personality and flavour. Theres a really good vibe about the place. You get the feeling that it attracts a lot of regulars as owner seems to know almost everyone's name. Mains are around $35-40. Bottles of wine start from $50 so youre better to go BYO (even with the $10 per table corkage fee). Dessert are worth saving some room for. I'm tempted to go back for a lazy Sunday lunch sometime soon.
This has to be one of the best restaurants in Darlinghurst if not Sydney. I regularly visit this restaurant and have yet to experience a bad meal or bad service. Basically it has chef hat quality food with out the formality and pretentiousness of a chef hat restaurant. Specialising in seafood and fish, the food is always sublime and the service is always excellent. Recommend trying the Salmon Blini or Sashimi as an entree. Their sashimi is always fresh and excellent. While you may be paying between $35-40 for a main, it is worth every cent. They also do great desserts. Note, there is a no booking policy so you need to get there early otherwise you will be waiting for over an hour. However in that case you can always go to the Darlo or Victoria room for a drink and they will call you.
