Gyms & Fitness Centres
Fitness First
55 Christie St
St Leonards, NSW, 2065
Cons :
The men's change room is pretty much a sauna. There's only one fan for a big change room and it's mostly off. When you leave the gym, even though you have just showered, you feel all soggy and wet and unclean.
The process of repairing broken machines is extremely slow. Abs bench has been broken for more than 4 months.
There's no abs machine, none, all you can do is crunches and DYI moves.
Pros:
Most of the staff are nice
There's a swimming pool which is mostly not busy in the mornings.
There are lots of treadmills
I'm not impressed with standard of instructors or level of cleanliness in bathrooms - Ladies
bathrooms never look or smell clean , whether you attend morning, noon, or night you wonder who actually cleans them and when - and do they just use water without any cleaners ? I'd really like to know .
Not sure if they are trying to save money or discourage attendance - they do not put the airconditioning on , instead use fans , that blow smelly air around. - Its a real discouragement to use the running machines or cross trainers . Also I did a pump class eveg 17 Aug - and had an instructor , without form, shape or a muscle in his body . He looked like a video game player who had never played sport or was even health conscious. Totally discouraging and off putting. How did he become an instructor?
I'm quite pleased with this gym, been a member for many many years. The feeling is one of fun and no one is made to feel too old or too stupid. There's a cycle studio and other studios for classes . Parking for 1.5 hours free in the Wilson Parking adjoining. Otherwise park on street and need coins. Or it's close enough to station. There's a bit of competition now with at least two or three other gyms nearby, so I'm going to be a bit bold and renegotiate my membership, I pay a few dollars less each week but can only use this branch. Previously had a platinum membership and could use any club. Some equipment a bit tired or broken. Nice staff but for me the best thing is the 25m pool, it's all the one depth so when you're arms have no more energy you can jog on the floor of the pool.
