Five Ways Cellars

I discovered these cute little business when I moved to Paddington. Until then, my friends and I didn't know it existed! Well I'm so glad I discovered it. Wonderful, knowledgable service and an extensive range of wine. Support the little guys, give them a go!

I moved to Paddington (Broughton Street) early 2011, so I discovered these guys quite by chance, and I've honestly learnt more about wine from these guys than from anyone. What I love about Five Ways Cellars is that they do tastings every weekend, and sometimes midweek often with a theme based on grape type or region. For example on the 14th July they did a "Bastille Day" tasting of some really beautiful French wines. The guy that runs the store is an absolute expert. They host a regular wine tasting course above the main shop that easily outclasses the courses put on by the Australian Wine Society (yes I've done both!). The wine prices are actually pretty good, (hint: check out the Moppitys Shiraz - it's a brilliant red for 25 bucks). All the wines are purposefully selected by the owner so the standard of wine selection is pretty high. Large selection for the size of the shop which is pretty small, reasonably expensive due to it's location but very handy for local byo restaurants.
