Many people think that being healthy is simple - exercise, eat the right food, sleep more, stress less. However it is easy to get lost in the detail. We are continually bombarded with what we should and shouldn't eat, the latest fads, diets, super-foods, quick fix solutions. How do you filter all this information to decipher what is right for you? I am a qualified nutritionist and will help you determine what your personal health goals are and educate and encourage you to get there. Everyone is unique and our bodies react in different ways so there is no single solution for everyone.
The body is a complex machine and it is very clever at healing itself but you have to give it the right environment to try and achieve homeostasis. As a qualified nutritionist I can help you nurture this environment. Cultivating your intestinal micro-flora and strengthening your digestive system can provide the best foundation. This will enable your body to effectively process and absorb the nutrients you put into it. Giving your body the right mixture of macro and micro nutrients will increase its' capacity to function at optimal levels. Supporting the various body systems through your diet, vitamins, minerals and lifestyle changes will help rectify any imbalances.
Our bodies are great communicators but we don't always stop to listen to them. During a nutrition consultation we will pause to listen by conducting a full holistic investigation of your current health status. We will discuss your goals and what roadblocks may be hindering your progress. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and lost 11 kilos in 3 weeks. The 'specialist' recommended I take 3 pills a day for the rest of my life. I was lucky enough to hear about Rachel's advice and was given a simple supplement (a morning smoothie with natural ingredients), within under 2 months I was fine, no symptoms. I've always thought as myself as healthy; I'm active and always had what I thought to be a pretty educated idea of what I ought to be eating. I consciously chose low fat meals and occasionally did a detox/cleanse. I could always sense my body was a little sluggish which I chalked up to age and drinking a little too much, but it was through a chance dinner with a friend who referred me to Rachel that I learnt more about my body and nutrition than I have in the last 30 odd years.
Rachel took me through my diet and what I was actually consuming - basically everything I'd been educated to think was good for it was advertising!!
