Foodland

This is my local, so handy being just around the corner from me. Although I had a recent incident at the Foodland where I received such poor customer service - hence now going out of my way to make this review.

I had started to unpack my groceries at a checkout with the light on and a girl serving another customer. Whilst unpacking I'm informed that she won't be serving any more customers so to go to check out 11. I was a little annoyed but followed her instructions. Front desk staff are awful on refunds. Tried to take back a home brand item with out a receipt & they refused to refund me. Said I could of bought it anywhere. It was HOME-BRAND! Another visit, bought a few items, when home checked the docket & they charged me for 2 loaves of bread, yet I had only purchased one loaf! Another visit I bought 2kg chicken fillets, left them in the fridge for 2 days & went to use them for dinner & they were off. As I did not think to keep the receipt Foodland Happy Vally refused to refund me! I mentioned to the staff at the front counter that I do not keep my receipts as I expect the meat to be fresh, she replied I keep ALL my receipts for 2 weeks. What does that tell me? Firstly if meat does not last for 2 days why is she keeping receipts for 2 weeks & as an employee she obviously does not trust the meat as she keeps all her receipts to claim back off food!! The reason for the rating is because I identified about 2 out of date products when I looked at about 15. I would be very careful about best before dates in this store. However I like that there are rarely any queues and sometimes they even have people there who will pack your bags for you. They are slightly more expensive than other supermarkets, but you get better service. They also sometimes have some really good specials.

Happy Valley Foodland, great place to shop, heaps of carparking, great choice of brands on the shelves and in the various fresh and frozen food departments, good weekly specials in the catelogue, the staff are from the local community and are genuinely friendly and dedicated to great service, there are no long line ups because as soon as they see people waiting they open another checkout.
