Supermarket & Grocery Stores
Foodland
1220 Grand Junction Rd

This store has a great 'local' feel, from offering the 'tiser for free regularly to having local produce easily accessible. Their pricing has gotten a lot more competitive in recent times & at this store there's often heavily discounted bread & meat on clearance.
Other big bonuses here are really easy parking & queues that are never more than 10 min long. Love shopping here (though often shop elsewhere just for more expensive items as their regular prices on some goods are still sometimes a bit high here).
I've been shopping exclusively here since 1989 and have always been happy with the service, range and friendly community feel of this supermarket. I support local businesses whenever I can and was really opposed to shopping at one of the other two major chains nearby and supporting them to build their monopolies. However over the last 12 months the service and attitude of the staff at this supermarket has slipped significantly. I've struck a couple of incredibly rude staff multiple times and it's lost the neighbourhood feel I used to love about this place.
I finally shopped at a competitor today and was pleasantly surprised by the range and prices there. Sorry Foodland- you've lost me. Invest in some staff training for your front end staff in regard to customer service or I wont be the only person taking my business elsewhere.
I've lived near this Foodland for over 10 years and the service has been outstanding for each and every one of those years. What a pleasure it is to see a supermarket open checkouts when customers are waiting, it puts Coles and Woolworths to shame. As another reviewer mentioned, the range is not as great as the duopoly, but they're not replacing all their well known products with their own brands. If I ever move I hope there will be a supermarket such as this one close by.
Friendly, helpful staff abound. They always attend to me straight away. People only have to wait in line 1-2 people before another check-out is opened. They have a nice variety of food, sometimes a little less than the major supermarkets, but also a nice change of product.
