Our girl guides attended Forge Farm on Saturday June 24.They did a beginners trail ride through the bush,They also learned about grooming horses, feeding horses, cleaning up horse manure and bridling and saddling horses. They were given clear safety rules ie not to startle a horse, not to go round the back of a horse. It was not just a horseride ,the girls were taught safety and horsecare skills and how to respect horses. They enjoyed feeding carrots to horses, doing the grooming and putting hay in the paddocks. They had great fun and learned a lot.The horses appeared very well cared for.It was an excellent introduction to horseriding and horsecare.
I had a wonderful time on Forge Farm. I did a trail ride and it was awesome! Wendy and her staff are very friendly, fun and they do their best so that everybody (experienced/ non-experienced riders, different age groups, etc.) has a great time. I really enjoyed my ride through the beautiful forest and I will certainly come back when I'm in the Perth area again.
I was in Perth on a holiday for a week from overseas (Singapore) and wanted to take a horse riding lesson for the very first time. Having had no previous riding experience and not being able to commit for a series of lessons, I thought this place was the most suitable from all the search results I got online as I could have a one-off casual lesson, and the horses were especially ok with nervous and beginner riders. I booked myself for a one-hour individual lesson via email.
The instructor and host Wendy was very calm and kind, and I could tell she was very experienced in handling the horses and riding. Her style of instruction is more hands-on (she teaches you as you go along) so there wasn't a super long briefing and I was pretty much put on the horse from the get-go. However, as she ...read more
My daughter, her friend and I had a fabulous time on our trail ride. Our host Wendy was very sensitive and aware that I'm a nervous rider and reassured me at all times ! Riding through the bush was so beautiful. After the ride we even went to see and feed her 2 new foals. Will definately be back !
After shopping around for something different for my daughter's 10th birthday party I settled on a 1hr trail ride with 4 of her closest friends at Forge Farm. On arrival I was immediately impressed with the tidiness of the grounds. We were met by Tracey who was polite and eager to get the ride under way, there was no waiting around, the kids were on their horses and heading off on their exciting new experience within 15 minutes. The only suggestion I would make at this point would be a short briefing on arrival to the parents just to let them know what would be happening, however I did appreciate the fact that the time I had paid for was put to good use. The trail ride went for the full hour despite the hot conditions, which I have to commend the guides on. The kids all returned with huge smiles on their faces, more confident than when they left and were excited to tell us all about what they had seen on the trail. The proximity to Lake Leschenaultia is an added ...read more
