The atmosphere here is good, the service is slow but that's ok we go there when we not in a hurry and just ask for hot cappacinos or they will be warm not not. Food fresh and tasty. They have often not got our order right when ordering a sandwich as we don't eat butter and they still pile it on when we ask clearly for none but it's always fixed with an apology, it's just we know they going to smother the sandwich even though we ask more than once for no butter so a little Patience required but it's good when it's right. #reviewtowin
Hi Caron, Karen the owner here. Can I please ask what time you came in and who served your coffee? We honestly try to improve and better ourselves all the time and identifying issues is our only avenue of doing this. Normally the girls are really good so I would like to see what in the ordering system is letting this kind of thing slip through. I instruct everyone of our Baristas that coffee is to be served hot and at 60 degrees we are sometimes told we are too hot! Please let the girls know at ordering if you would like your coffee hotter than this and they will comply. I value your feedback and please be assured that once I understand where the shortfalls lay I will be doing something about it. Kind Regards Karen
Had a high tea here recently...for 52 per person, it was shocking!! Walked in and place was not set up for our booked arrival. Dirty tables everywhere, staff vacuumed the floor around us while trying to enjoy the experience, drinks were not offered regularly and tea was only offered until we asked several times for other options for those that dint drink tea..it was disappointing, would not go there again after that service compared to other High Teas I have had.
If you can tell me more about what day you came I can find out what happened. All tables are served with pots of tea upon arrival. Were you early? Did you have a CAFE HIGH TEA or in our new CHANDELIER ROOM? I am curious as we do not have a High Tea for $52 per person.
I asked about Cost and our group booking was a little more as we covered other guests without our knowledge...perhaps my expectations would have been lower had I had know the price was not 52.00 however the vacuuming whilst we were enjoying our high tea was not great service....and to walk in and see dirty tables didnt set the scene ....
Thank you for your feedback Sharay. Group bookings are in the hands of the organiser as well as the final booked numbers for the day. I have done an investigation of your complaint and searched the cameras in the store and found your table to be set upon your arrival. The reason why there was a table with plates left on it near yours was that people had just left! Your High tea was in the cafe area on timber flooring not on the carpet in the dedicated High Tea room and some of your booking was a 2 for 1 deal and only included unlimited tea. I did see however that coffees were bought to your table which was part of the full priced component of your High Tea. We dont normally vaccum the carpet during the day and I am sorry if this occurred and you heard it from where you were seated. We have a high standard for our High Teas and we are continually reviewing ourselves to make it the best High Tea on the Gold Coast.
I would be interested in knowing how you assume what day we came in....? as we were in the chandelier room....
l live in Hope Island and have been going to The French Lantern Cafe almost since the time that it has been opened. I can honestly say that I have never seen the high tea be priced at $52, I have also experienced the high tea and regular service there and the staff were all very accommodating and were happy to get anything that we wanted to drink, I go to this cafe at least twice a week and have never been vacuumed around either, this review really surprises me seeing as I am well aware of the high standard of service that The French Lantern Cafe provides.
