Newly revamped Frisco Hotel is a great spot for dinner or drinks with friends. We went for an opening party and it is a great spot for such an event. Downstairs is a huge bar, plenty of bench tables, gaming area and also space to sit outside. There was a band playing downstairs which made for a great atmosphere. Upstairs there are smaller tables, a balcony area as well as a private dining area. The decor has a nautical theme, blues, whites and nautical themed equipment. Trendy and fun bar staff in cool outfits, they were all very hospitable. I had a cocktail, blueberry flavoured champagne, beers and some spirits. For food, we tried a variety of canapés which were all extremely tasty -
popcorn prawns, chicken tenders, some awesome green / kale inspired calamari, gyoza (my favourite), and grilled prawns. The food was great!

The frisco hotel has just relaunched and it's a fabulous spot for a drink - especially on the upstairs balcony. A nautical theme with blues and white the decor flows from room to room throughout the hotel. The only downside to the balcony is that it's a smoking area, however, still a very popular spot. On level two there is the perfect date spot with little tables decked with flowers and candles. They were serving canapés which hopefully are a taste of their regular menu as they were scrumptious. Friday nights are $10 espresso martinis - the perfect way to end the week

This is an old sailors pub, which is not surprising since it is located just down the road from the Garden Island Naval Base. It's not a bad pub, but it certainly isn't my favourite in the area. They do have cheap meals and a happy hour (though I've never been around for their happy hour). The first time I came here was a couple of years ago when I had just arrived in Sydney for a couple of days and was wandering around the area looking for a beer and I just managed to squeeze in here before it closed. One thing that was interesting is that on one of the walls they have photos of a number of the ships that were used by the Australian Navy. As I said not a bad pub, but not one of the best and it is unlikely I would go out of my way to visit it again.
