This was actually a pretty cool pub. Actually, it is what you would probably call an old man’s pub, but it is an old man’s pub that happens to have a lot of charm about it. Well, they didn’t have a huge selection of beers available, but when I discovered the balcony upstairs that problem sort of vanished in an instant. That balcony was nothing short of really cool, particularly if it happened to be one of those really nice days. Yeah, this place was actually pretty cool.
Garry Owen is one of the few hotels in Sydney where the class divide doesn't exist and Suits and flannel shirts mix with old Labour stalwarts and progressive politics. A vibrant mix of traditional values and inner city chic. Traditional pub grub at great prices. Good family value.
I am reviewing this pub even though I haven't actually been in there, basically because I am too scared. I have been in some dodgy pubs but I won't go here. the decor is something to see (thru the window) as it brings back some memories. Who was Garry Owen anyway?
