Gaucho's Argentinean Restaurant
Watching the grill man at Gaucho's on a busy night is compelling street theatre, so look in through the big kitchen window before sitting down inside. Almost all of this will come off perfectly cooked is a remarkable feat of organisation and skill. The steaks all have the full flavour and tenderness of aged meat and are served with an intimidating scattering of chopped raw garlic, a dish of chimmichurri sauce, roast potatoes and greens. The smokiness and quick cooking time of the grill also work a treat with super-fresh calamari and prawns.

Gauchos is always relatively busy but their tables turn over so walk ins are always welcome. I haven't been for several years but it was the same high standard that you expect. The staff member looking after us was excellent! She knew exactly what we needed when we needed it - she also warned us that a large table was coming in and ensured that we got our order in before they arrived. We started with the carpaccio and chorizo sausage both of which were excellent. Our steaks were cooked as requested and delicious. Be prepared to order a side because the steaks only come with a sauce.
My favourite place for steak, ribs, empanadas and churros in Adelaide! The service is always on point, however as a long returning customer I didn't like three changes that were made 1. The pear salad which was a must have now seems mediocre to its former self missing the greens and generous Parmesan it used to have. Last two times I've had it I've been disappointed. 2. Steak on a wooden board, please no! It's just messy, uninviting and where's my salad going to go? 3. Store brought chips, bring back the homey potatoes... Apart from that, I still love this place! Food comas every time, but must have the fluffy and delicious churros! All the desserts are heaven sent actually... Yum!
I think the review beneath by 'davideades' says it all. Food is fantastic, but if you don't like Garlic best to mention it when you order the steak, but as I love Garlic, it is FANTASTIC. I don't bother ordering any sauces, the Chima Churri sauce on the table is great, and goes nice with the Garlic too :-).
I have not dined at Gaucho's before but had heard a lot about their steaks. I was told "expensive but very nice food". So my expectations were reasonably high when I arrived, 15 minutes before my friend was due to meet me. I was promptly given a table and offered water while I waited. It was cold, wet and miserable outside and to be in this very cosy restaurant was already a very good start.

We just settled for the old standard, Garlic Bread before moving into the main course. It was tasty and Garlicy. Not much else you can say about Garlic ...read more
