After spending time trying to locate a pub in Gawler that sold food we ended up arriving at this place. From what I could see this place is more of a restaurant than a pub (though they do have the ubiquitous pokies out the back). When I first looked at the menu I was a little worried because it seemed to be quite pricey, until I discovered the lunch menu, which was the same as the normal menu but a lot cheaper. The meals when ordered are the basic plates with either chips or potatoes, though that can be topped up with the salad bar. My only gripe was that my steak wasn't cooked all the way through (which is the way I like it). The pub also have play equipment for children. Oh, I should also mention that the table that they sat us at had yet to be cleaned from the previous customers, and despite being told that they would get to it, they never did.
Worst food I have eaten in a long time. Staff were lovely. My steak was massively over cooked and tasted older than me. My husband a son had schnitzel which was over priced and over cooked. We won't be back. Really disappointed. Only redeeming thing was the wait staff
my husband and I & our 14 year old son attended the Gawler Arms last sat night....we found the staff to be rude..they were standing around talking amongst themselves we observed a gentleman waiting at the bar to be served, he had to get the attention of the staff chatting to order a drink....then came our experience we ordered our meals and when they were brought out the wait staff said "a steak thingy with cream sauce stuff on top" that would be a surf and turf !! The wait staff had no idea what was on the plate very poor!! my son had a lasagne and I the seafood platter they were overcooked and tasteless!! I don't know what sort of chef they have but they need to get more training!! the price was so over the top it was ridiculous, I don't mind paying for a decent meal but that was so far from decent!! there were lots of kids running around un supervised and children helping themselves to the dessert bar sticking fingers in the food this is a parents ...read more
We went for lunch on a Sunday with our toddler. Whilst the playground is good the food is terrible.. The half star rating is only for the playground. I had a beef schnitzel and hubby had a steak which were almost inedible.. food tasted old and my beef schnitzel tasted more like calamari than beef.
Would not recommend to anyone. This is the worst pub meal I have ever had!
I agree Melanie....the food is well below average!! our wait staff didn't even know what the food was that we ordered!! they called it a steak thingy with cream sauce stuff on top.....(surf & turf) very poor .....they need lots more training !!
