I wish I got the name of the extremely friendly bar tender that helped us organise a surprise for one of our friends. We arrived in the evening when their wine cellar room was closed, but the staff were so kind to let us use that room for our surprise. And the friendly bar tender was so great at playing along and putting on an act to help us with our surprise. That service alone deserves 5 stars already. After our surprise, we had dinner where which was delicious and deserves another 5 stars. Because there was many of us, we ordered a bit of everything and was able to sample each other’s dishes. The pizza stood out the most to me, I’m a sucker for pizza! Love this place and the service!
What a beautiful place to take stock of the wineries you've visited, or pit stop to refuel before you continue down the windy roads of the Yarra Valley. The industrial shell is filled with atmosphere when you walk through the doors, where you'll be welcomed by young, friendly slightly hipster looking staff.
A few wine tastings later - you can sample the entire Innocent Bystander range, as well as Giant Steps within the barrel hall - and you're ready to sit to an approachable menu of pizzas, small bites and a well stocked booze list.
Great location and plenty of parking, right in the heart of Healesville.
Raising the bar of casual country dining. Love it.
What a great way to enjoy lunch after q long road trip. Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander seems like the place to be and have lunch on a nice sunny Saturday. We popped in just before it got busy. Sat outside enjoying the great weather. Between the 2 we ordered one if their gourmet pizza to share. Puffy based and slightly crunchy ends with curled up pepperoni and melted blobs of cheese. I could wait to dig in. Smelt so good when the staff placed it down on the table. Quick service, well a pizza couldn't possible take that long. Staff were friendly. Taking the first bite and the juices dripping i knew this was going to be a tasty pizza. Not dry and the flavours of the pepperoni were definitely there. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend.
This is at the top of my must visits in Healesville, possibly even in the Yarra Valley region! They are famous for their delicious Innocent Bystander moscato which has such delicate and refined strawberry and fruity flavours. Make sure you book ahead during weekends as it gets very busy. There is a bakery with a large selection of locally baked treats. The lunch menu is tapas styled so great for sharing and the wood fired pizza is delicious.
