Gibbs Truck Transmissions was founded by Ivan Gibbs and Bert Wilson in 1957. Before it was taken by Paul and Chris Gibbs in 1980, it was operated by Gibbs family as a wrecking yard business. Paul and Chris have been actively involved in the running of the business and they closed the truck wrecking business in 1997 to provide new parts to their customers making it a key supplier of parts in the trucking industry. A second outlet with a fully equipped shop was opened in Gold Coast at Burleigh heads in 2000 with another outlet called Gibbs Parts Pty Ltd being opened at Rocklea in 2002 among other start up outlets.
