Global Ballooning offers sunrise balloon flights over Melbourne and over the Yarra Valley.
Your friends may gossip about proposals if you take this lofty trip. Already married? You can still be part of someone else’s romance up close and personal in the basket of the balloon. For $295 per person you can float over the Yarra and off to stunning Victorian wine regions. Our tip: talk nicely to the pilot and get him to land at Chandon for a flight of bubbles with breakfast. Just make sure he or she sticks to the water!
I must admit I was reluctant to join a party for a friend's special birthday in the air but I needn't have been so timid. Once you get up into the air above the beautiful Yarra Valley, you will lose any sense of trepidation you might feel beforehand. The scenery is peaceful and lovely and the ride is smooth, for the most part. I had always been curious about the odd hot air balloon I had seen hovering over the city landscape. Plenty of good photographic opportunities too. This is a lovely way to spend a few hours on a nice day.
