Pool Safety laws came into effect on Dec 1,2010 to combat the leading cause of death in Queensland for children aged one to four years. It came about partly because of the drowning of Hannah.
To quote Hannah's mother
'So always supervise your child, begin swimming lessons for your children. Close the gate and keep your fence maintained."

It is now required that you have a pool safety certificate when selling, buying or leasing a property with a pool.

Pool owners have until 30th November 2015 to comply with pool safety standards.
