DO NOT USE THIS CLUB! I have asked for my membership to be cancelled on a number of times, and the manager keeps pushing out the date stating they need 30 days notice, I gave 30 days notice in January and it's now April. This is not an ethical nor practically friendly gym.
I would rather workout at home than sit on those sweat encrusted machines or be greeted (or often not) by disinterested front desk staff. The only saving grace of the gym was my PT who I used for 3 sessions, he was kind and generous with his knowledge. Even though the gentleman who signed me up for my membership and PT sessions was in such a money-grabbing rush that he didn't even inform the poo PT he has booked me in for a session so I was stranded at the gym ready for my first session with no PT!
The facilities are great. The management is the WORST!!!!! I signed up for 20 personal training sessions and the management who was meant to train me cancelled on me twice in the first week then when i tried to contact them i got no response. Instead they sent another trainer to come and train me without even asking my goals. Very unprofessional. Besides that the friendliness of the staff is touch and go. If it wasn't close to home and the facilities were bad I'd move on. Management really is terrible....
I found this gym quite nice. They have a very nice little cardio theatre, a cool spin studio and best of all, a spa in the ladies' change room. The downside is that you have to go up and down stairs as everything is spread over several levels, can be very annoying if you leave something in your locker and have to go back for it. I've never been a member so can't comment on prices or contracts.
Don't even walk in, please, just refuse to give it the time of your day. I had a very similar experience with them as J_ay did, it's true that "management" and "customer service" is just plain laughable at this place. Their facilities are good, but I would be wary of joining just because it's clear that they thrive on doing everything they can to get you to sign on. I thought I'd signed an expression of interest until I received a call four months later for the first time from these people saying they'd referred me to a debt collector for a membership I never activated or started or wanted or agreed to. Horrible establishment, I've been a part of four different gyms in four different cities on three different continents and I have never experienced anything like this, nor do I ever expect to again.
I must admit. On first look at the gym I was quite impressed. The Irish lad who talked me through all the different rooms and equipment was very friendly and enthusiastic. I had no hesitation joining on a 6 month membership. Which they admittedly tried to get me on their fortnightly payment deal but I paid 6 months upfront, in which they also gave me an extra month free of charge. I got on the track to getting a personal trainer through the gym and it's been great. I've lost 28 kilograms in 3 months and am on track of hitting my target weight. All thanks to Goodlife. I however think the staff do not offer personal assistance to any of their members, so if you know what you're doing, this is the gym for you. If you have no idea and this is your first gym, I would say find somewhere else with better staff/client interaction. The equipment is good. Not great but good.
