Based on my positive experience few years ago with my first child, I sent my second child too. But I was totally disappointed, they talk a lot about the program and try to force their ideas on to the parents, lack of understanding and disrespectful. They are forgetting the priorities CARE & SUPERVISION. Sadly standards have gone down.
I had my child at Gowrie but decided to move her to another childcare centre as I was disappointed with the lack of structured activities, play and learning.
They are fortunate to have a lovely outdoor play area but it seems the "child-lead learning" philosophy is allowing the staff to just step back and not be very proactive in organising fun play and learning.
If you want more from your childcare than an area to let your kids run around supervised, I would recommend you look at other childcare centres in the area that put a lot more effort into organising creative activities and crafts.
We've noticed that carers appear to have 'favourite' children. We've experienced both sides of this and when you're on the 'right' side of it, the child has a great time. On the other hand, we've found that the lack of interest in making a genuine connection with one of our children is very upsetting. We haven't seen carers appear interested in/interact warmly with our child, which is in stark contrast to how they behave towards the small handful they seem to like. Our child is not having a very good time here despite being well liked by other families at the centre. Cannot recommend this centre because of this issue.
No longer maintains its once excellent reputation. Quality in care has waned.
Kinder program disappointing. No direction for children's social development and one size fits all doesn't fit all. ! Disappointment all round. Lack of knowledge of childhood education in staff. No longer leaders in children's childcare.
