I lived in the Village for half of 2011 and half of 2012, and never had any of the problems that student123 or maximus12 had... I will admit that it is not your cheapest option available, but there is no where else that is closer in proximity to Griffith Uni Gold Coast, and the price of rent included all utilties, except for internet and laundry. I filled out a detailed entry inspection report when I first moved in, and took photos of any pre-existing damage, and got 100% of my bond back.. Plus they had daily events that ranged from free food every monday, pizza nights for $6 from Eagleboys, free pancakes on Thursdays, Movie nights with snacks on Fridays, Playstation nights on Saturdays, a BBQ on Sunday, and that's not even covering everything they offered.. so it's not like there was never anything to do activity-wise. Again, there definitely could be improvements made, but no matter where you go I think there can always be improvements.
Do not live here even if you are a student, they try to charge you for everything such as holes in the walls from past tenants. And once you pay they wont fix them. You can live in surfers in a very nice hotel apartment for cheaper just get a room with a buddy. Especially if you are on exchange do not live here worst mistake i ever made.
Completely agree with studen123! During my stay in 2008, experienced change of management twice and failed to return deposits of 90% of students based faulty furniture. The village is not cooperative and aggressive. You will be charged for absolutely everything washing, power, water, electricity, internet, parking and facility use - none of which they advertise. Form your own decision, but definitely consider a 6 or 12 month lease in the suburb through a real estate agency.
