Grumpy's Green

Excellent venue to spend time in with yummy, well-priced food in an eco-friendly environment. The cuisine is mostly but not wholly vegetarian and will surprise meat-lovers with a tasty variety of dishes. The live music is usually good and the service is great. The beer garden out the back is also nice. They do all day breakfast which is good value, as are most of the dishes.

Fav place for me and my boyfriend on weekends! We could spend a whole day there just sitting and chatting, the atmosphere is nice, staff is great and the food! Oh, the food is fantastic. Have recommended the place to non vegetarian friends and they loved it.

What you'd expect in Smith St, Fitzroy. Very casual and laid back with the majority of the seating being lounges.There was even a dog bowl on the floor! Appears to be more of a bar, but you can get a menu which is mainly vegetarian with a couple of token meat dishes (eg, chicken & kangaroo). The menus are quirky - they've been printed off and stuck in the pages of children's Little Golden Books. I'm not vegetarian, but there was plenty to choose from. I had the roasted beetroot risotto with mushroom and chevre. It was simple but hearty and perfect for lunch on a cold Sunday. They make an excellent coffee too. It's good to know that they are also eco-friendly!

What a little treasure!
Grumpys Green on Smith Street is centrally located and a short stroll from public transport with a tram running out front. They continuously serve up a great menu of eco friendly, taste bud tantalising treats for their varied customers. Im surprised every time I go there by something new and yummy.
Last Thursday I attended I was treated to a really unique act on their awesome stage. This guy actually sang Britney Spears Slave 4 U with an acoustic guitar and it sounded fantastic. I'm not a vego but I have no complaints about the lack of meat here. The food was really tasty and filling and I liked the laid back atmosphere. Will def be back for more.
