I am now an old (word censored by T L) and have been in many guitar shops. A terrific little one in Madrid with a man building flamenco and classical guitars while local singers and players mucked around in there. Shops all over Australia. Great shop in Melbourne Real Guitars where Brendan does a great job on repairs. Having come to live on French Island I did not expect to find a marvellous shop near here. But I did. This one. They have GREAT guitars. I am buying a Maton Mayfair arch top from Rob there. I had one of these rare and fabulous guitars 40 years ago. I recorded Australia's first independent LP through EMI using it. I've got my eye on a Fender Custom Shop tele there. These are the best guitars you can get. You can buy a genuine Spanish guitar at Guitars and Things. Rob will change your strings or build you a new guitar from your front door if you want and he considers the wood good enough. great guys, very friendly and helpful.
I was a little disappointed when i sold my guitars there though, as they would not give me any money until it sold, and if i wanted to stop selling it and take it back because it was taking so long, then i would have to pay for a guitar set up.
hello there...isn't it normal to not get paid until an item sold on consignment to get paid only if and when it is sold? I don't know what your arrangement was in regard to the guitar set up. Did they do that to help it sell? If you wanted your money straight up you could have offered to sell it to the shop...but because they have to make money you wouldn't expect them to pay as much as you might hope to get from a customer.
