Unfortunately the service here can only be described as abysmal. We waited near the doorway where it said to wait here sign. We were then told to move to next wait here sign as apparently we were blocking the doorway. Then we were completely ignored whilst the waitress kindly helped others behind us to find a table. We then asked about a table for ourselves and told brusquely that there were some upstairs. ...read more
Lovely staff! The dessert was pretty average, overly rich. I got the one alcoholic drink on the menu, it pretty much tastes like baileys and the martini glass is packed with ice so it was essentially 3 sips and it was gone. Plus you guys really need to clean your bathrooms, and remember to refill toilet paper dispensers, neither toilet had any
I always referred to Guylian chocolates as 'the seashell and seahorse' ones! We came to this cafe after dinner and were tantalised by the huge spread of desserts in the counter windows. Pastries, tiramisu, brulee tarts, lemon meringue... mmm...
They were quite busy and it was a short wait for a table. Waitress was attentive and helpful providing us with menus and table water. We walked to the counter to take a closer look at the cakes which is much more fun than reading words on a menu. I shared a strawberry tart and a lemon meringue with a friend and they were sweet and delicious. The pastry on the lemon meringue was perfectly crumbly and had a buttery aftertaste. The prices to eat in are slightly higher than takeaway and you are charged 50c for a glass of warm water, so just stick with cold tap water.
The coffee wasn't the best but I knew that was a poor choice when visiting a chocolate cafe!
If you like chocolate, you will love this place!
This is the place to go to sample delectable chocolate-based desserts - we tried the degustation plate and the cakes were delicious. The hot chocolate and iced chocolate drinks were also gorgeous. There is also a menu of main courses, but we didn't try any.
The decor of the cafe is elegant and classy, and there is seating outside on the street, on the ground floor and upstairs.
The service was overall average - we did go at a very busy time - but was saved by an absolutely fantastic waitress who was very attentive and apologetic - what you would expect from a prestige establishment.
Next time you are down in Sydney's historic Rocks Markets, drop in and savour the range.
