Welcome to the Gympie Family History Society, we are a not for profit organisation devoted to helping people research their family history in the Gympie and Wide Bay Region. Our society is run by volunteers with a passion for local history. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and find information on the Gympie area and the people who once lived in the district.
About Us
Gympie Family History Society was founded in 1980, and has grown from a small group of members meeting to help each other to do research, to a well equipped Society with our own rooms and a large library of reference materials and research facilities. The Society enjoys a good working relationship with the Gympie Library�s Local History section and is supported by the Gympie Regional Council.
The Society maintains links with other genealogical and family history groups, and reciprocal rights are enjoyed with a number of genealogical societies, whose members may visit and conduct research.
Some minor restrictions may apply.
Projects undertaken by the Society involve members conducting research for the purpose of collating and collecting local knowledge for the long term maintenance of our rich history. This information is then produced in book and CD format and sold.
Funds obtained from the sale of these items are utilised to provide additional research materials for our Library.
Meetings
Society meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at 2:00pm in the Board Room, Gympie Family History Society Rooms, Station Road, Gympie. Members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
AGM
The Societies Annual General Meeting is held in September each year at 1:30pm in the Board Room, Gympie Family History Society Rooms, Station Road, Gympie. Members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Our 2016 meeting was held on 3 September. ...read more
