So this one was... good, but not amazing. I suspect we may be evolving into ramen snobs, so take this review with that in mind! The stand out item of the order was certainly the karaage - very juicy & flavorsome with a crisp shell! For a ramen restaurant though, the star dish didn't wow as we'd hoped. It only comes in a small number of options (pork/chicken/veg, either soy or salt each), and while it was a reasonably good meal, it didn't really get near some of the more authentic alternatives. Pricing is pretty much standard with other ramen specialists around. If you're in the area and really need a noodle hit that's a bit sideways of traditional, it's worth a look, but if you're really looking for that true ramen hit & are willing to travel a little further, keep your options open!
Really rate this place. Especially due to their clever take on a gluten free option - replacing noodles with asian greens and a clean broth. Aside from the gluten free ramen, their traditional ramen packed a punch and was full of flavour. As was the must try corn with miso butter - this stuff is incredible!
By no means is this place serves authentic Japanese Ramen or flavours. So if you're under the impression of getting good Japanese ramen - this place is not for you.
The broth lacks depth of those rich bone soup. The noodles themselves are good and the meat served with the ramen are unique and tasty. They've cut the meat thickly (chicken and pork) yet they are still tender. I'd give them points for that.
However, a broth is what makes a ramen tasty and unfortunately the broth is quite weak. A lot of people that have not tried Japanese ramen like the taste, but once you've gone for the rich pork broth you can't go back to subtle broth.
The karaage portion is quite small for the price and they taste OK.
I think it's a good place for a modern Asian noodle place, but not if you're after a rich Asian flavour.
