Beautiful inner-city dojo offering adults and childrens classes in Aikido, a non-violent Japanese martial art based on compassion and non-resistance.

Our beautiful, light-filled inner-city studio - a traditional Japanese dojo - is also available for hire for workshops and regular classes 7 days per week. We are conveniently located in Chippendale, a short distance from Central and Redfern Railway Stations, major bus routes, the University of Sydney and the University of Technology.

About us
Aikido Sydney City (AKI) is a Sydney Aikido club established by Berin Mackenzie and inspired by the teachings of Takeda Yoshinobu Shihan (8th dan, Aikikai). We belong to a growing network of Aikido dojos throughout Japan, Australia, NZ, Canada, USA, Chile & Uruguay, known as AKI or Aikido Kenkyukai International (Aikido Research Group).

We aim to develop sensitivity in movement while fostering an exploratory and creative approach to Aikido study through dynamic, non-violent martial arts training and exploration. Our Kids and Adults Aikido classes in Sydney's city centre are led by MAIA-accredited instructors and are high-energy, inspiring and great fun! All students are treated equally and their individual goals and abilities respected.

Black-belt gradings are issued by Aikikai Honbu Dojo in Tokyo and are recognised internationally.
