Harbour View Hotel
Came here for a networking event, first of all easy to get to - you have a nice scenic walk from the train station or bus stop. The staff serving us were so lovely and polite amidst all the chatter and networking. The canapés were great, simple and so tasty including felafel, aranchini balls, satay skewers and mini pork buns. Canapés were able to accomodate vegetarians well! We were on the first floor which has a nice 'L' shaped setting so plenty of space to walk and mingle or check out the balcony attached also. May come next time to dine in downstairs!
The Harbour View Hotel is set over multiple levels, each with its own drawing card which makes it a pretty awesome and diverse space. There are quite a few private little tables, nooks and crannys to be found around the space and from pretty much any angle the view is incredible. I never get bored just sitting there and watching the Sydney bridge climbers do their thing. The rooftop area is nice, as is the private table on the second level. I am not the biggest fan of the bar downstairs as it is usually very busy and relatively generic. This place is worth a visit for the view as it is literally under the iconic harbour bridge.
I found this place surprisingly nice. It's a lovely part of town actually, there is something lovely about the Rocks and Millers Point. Very close to the southern pylon of the famous "coat hanger" bridge. This place is more than just the bar you see as you enter from street level. There's a roof top terrace too. A piano, how good is that ? Also, you can also rent out an area for functions such as birthday parties. The staff are super, all very professional. I had a delicious chicken schnitzel. I'm looking forward to returning soon and exploring the Barangaroo area, not too far from here.
Okay, it strictly isn't a part of The Rocks, since it is located on the wrong side of the bridge, but I suspect you still visit this place if you go on one of the pub tours. I don't mind this place, though there are better pubs to have a beer at around here. The seats out the front are quite nice, especially on a good day, though you don't get a hugely great view of the harbour (despite the name). This pub doesn't get as crowded as the others, though they only have the standard beers available. I did quite like all of the exotic coins stuck to the wall, though my favourite spot to sit here is out the front, if all the spots haven't been taken up by anybody else. All in all it is a nice hotel and I don't mind stopping by for a drink when I'm in the area. Oh, and the staff are pretty good as well.
We were here on Australia Day. The downstairs section was really busy with a live band. We headed up to the second floor where the bistro is. There is also a rooftop bar. Menu was your usual pub menu and reasonably priced. They also had a $6 sausage sizzle special that day.
